Spend your days running your fingers and toes through white powdery beaches and relish exploring the best shelling east or west of Australia. There are 17 miles of beaches for shelling, swimming or basking in the warm Florida sun. Sanibel’s unique location lying east to west in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Fort Myers, (unlike most islands which are north to south), has made Sanibel a remarkable area for over 160 varieties of shells to wash ashore.
