Golf Courses
in West Florida
On the west coast of Florida, lush
landscaping, challenging greens, and great times are par
for the course. So what are you waiting for? Grab your
favorite wood and drive one for miles.
Welcome to Isla
Del Sol Golf Yacht and Country Club in St.
Petersburg, a challenging course that combines
a tropical and lush layout with a true sense of respect
for the traditions of the game. There are strategically
placed bunkers, undulating greens and narrow fairways
lined with a variety of palm trees, all accented with
a wide variety of tropical birds and beautiful views of
the bay. Bring a few extra golf balls, as water comes
into play on every hole!
Mangrove
Bay, also in St.
Petersburg, is a par-72, championship level
golf course located on 180 impeccably maintained acres.
Mangrove Bay features 18 holes of unparalleled golf on
USGA modified greens, a clubhouse, lighted driving range,
and a pro shop. This stellar course was included in the
“Top 100 Most Women Friendly Golf Courses”
by Golf for Women Magazine in 1999.
Bradenton’s The
River Club is not your typical Florida course. The
front nine has rolling fairways with plenty of mounding;
while the back nine is takes you through dense woods with
undulating, rolling greens. This semi-private course is
open to the public seven days a week and is highly recommended
for serious golfers. The restaurant offers panoramic views
of this gorgeous course. Golf Digest rates The River Club
four stars in "Places to Play." Florida Sports
Fan Magazine rates The River Club in the top 50 courses
in the state. This is simply a course you must try when
visiting this part of Florida.
Other courses to seriously consider when
visiting this coast are Lakewood Country Club (18 holes,
par-72, private), Rosedale
Golf and Tennis Club (18 holes, par-72, semi-private),
and The
Links at Greenfield Plantation (18 holes, par-72,
public).
